Our partner HIT (The Holon Institute of Technology) has started five new projects in 2023, thanks to the IDEATION project, with the aim to strengthen the knowledge triangle network partnerships.
In the context of IDEATION, our partner HIT presented five new projects in the course of 2023, with the main objective of responding to one of the project’s core activities: creating a knowledge triangle network strengthening partnerships with industry, public sector and society (WP2). Working prototypes in these projects are expected to be implemented in 2024, thus adding new shareable infrastructures for all partners which is a central initiative of IDEATION (WP1). These new projects are in addition to the Remote Lab for IoT and Robotics initiative (Remote Lab for IoT and Robotics) which was also launched during 2023.
All these initiatives have as their common denominator the aim of supporting IDEATION’s objective of strengthening the connection between Innovation, Education and Business Creation, through the establishment of new collaborative networks and opportunities. All this, while keeping the focus on issues concerning different areas of social activity.
The new activities range across application areas, declining innovation to respond to different critical issues. Here are the initiatives:
Information system for state events
Partners are developing an app for the state events, ensuring efficient logistics, optimizing the capacity by the families and the entities and helping to plan resources needed for that day, in order to solve the problem of the places’ congestion during state events and prevent people from avoiding visiting places in these situations. To address these issues, researchers create an information system with an algorithm that allows the families to specify how many people will be attending and, in this way, the algorithm will calculate how many representatives for each family should attend.
Volterz
Volterz is an intelligent application that tracks the electricity consumption in real-time, by monitoring and alerting when there is an abnormability. This system helps to save money and conserve energy effortlessly by machine learning and AI tools. Volterz wants to be the solution to change the way people consume electricity in their homes and help save energy while promoting environmental sustainability.
TedEar
TedEar is a product, linked to a specialized application, that aim to help people suffering from tinnitus. Tinnitus, characterized by a ringing or buzzing in the ears, affects 14% of the global population, with prevalence rising with age. TedEar is a device intended to be worn behind the ear, without penetrating the ear canal. It functions through a mobile application, delivering specific treatments for tinnitus. Additionally, the application will generate reports and predictions for the user. TedEar was designed to light on symptoms and to ensure people a paceful living.
FAS – Food As a Service AI Powered 3D Custom Food Printing System
Food supply in the army is a basic and necessary need for maintaining an operational routine and, therefore, the organization makes great efforts in order to provide its servants with food. FAS is a system for immediate printing of food according to demand in high capacity, it aims to optimize the process of supplying food to military forces. The system will consist of a central AI-based server that manages the entire production process, an inventory management and a web-based client application, that takes into consideration of allergies, vegetarianism, veganism and any different sensitivities.
ECMO Simulator Transforming healthcare with VR
At the heart of this initiative lies the fusion of healthcare training needs with cutting-edge technological innovation, primarily executed through virtual reality. The project recognizes the urgent need for revolutionizing medical education, where training gaps often lead to errors and prolonged learning curves. The aim is to create an ECMO simulator that leverages the immersive power of virtual reality, intertwining real data, personalized training, and seamless multi-participant experiences. This pioneering approach is set to redefine healthcare training paradigms, offering a precise, immersive, and accessible training platform adaptable to a global audience, delivering a transformative impact on healthcare education.
